Ethan’s Review Policies

Ethan wants his readers to be able to trust the testimonials and reviews that are posted about his work.

To this end, he holds himself to a high standard regarding review ethics.

No review incentives

Ethan does not incentivise readers for reviews, nor does he provide reviews for paid/gift-based incentives; please do not get in contact with enquiries of this nature, as they will be flatly refused.

Provision of review copies

From time-to-time, Ethan will provide free Kindle versions of his books to reviewers with the intent that the recipients will produce some kind of review (though this is just a verbal, non-binding agreement). Ethan encourages these reviewers to state this at the foot of their reviews, for transparency. When used as testimonials on this website, Ethan will tag these reviews with:

(disclosure policy – review copy supplied)

Review exchange policy

Ethan will consider performing “review exchanges” with other authors. Please use the contact page to ask about this.

Be aware that he will not merely provide a high rating in exchange for a high rating.

Ethan will hold off on posting particularly negative reviews until he can discuss it with the other author, as a matter of author-to-author courtesy (he may even retract the review, if it is believed to be too subjective).

Separation of reviews & editorial

Ethan regards reviews as primarily for readers/consumers, as opposed to being a resource for authors. To this end, he will not produce editorial that focuses primarily on specific reviews, or enter into personal discussion over reviews or individual reviewers.

These policies are subject to change

Ethan will review these policies over time, and they are subject to change.
